Amman's municipal authorities destroyed 4,882 liters of juice deemed unfit for human consumption during the first week of Ramadan, officials said.
The Greater Amman Municipality's health and professional monitoring teams carried out inspection tours targeting establishments and stalls selling Ramadan juices and other food products to ensure compliance with established health requirements, the municipality said in a statement.
Inspectors visited 256 juice and food stalls, resulting in the removal of 218 stalls for violations of public health requirements.
In addition, authorities issued 752 warnings and 84 citations against violators.
The teams also collected 94 food samples for laboratory testing to verify content safety and compliance with specifications.
The Greater Amman Municipality affirmed it would continue its inspection tours throughout Ramadan to address any violations that could affect citizen health and food safety, ensuring that establishments and stalls adhere to health regulations and instructions. The municipality urged citizens to avoid purchasing from unreliable sources or those lacking health requirements.
