German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd announced on Sunday the complete suspension of its vessels' transit through the Strait of Hormuz until further notice, citing developments in the regional security situation.
The decision follows a report from the Oman Maritime Security Center earlier on Sunday that the oil tanker “Sky Light,” flying the flag of Palau, was attacked approximately five nautical miles north of the port of Khasab in the Musandam Governorate. The attack resulted in injuries to four crew members.
This incident occurred in the wake of a separate drone attack on the commercial port of Duqm.
Tensions in the region have been further heightened by reported military actions between the United States, Israel and Iran, raising concerns about a potential escalation into a wider regional conflict.
