AI Use Surges Among Job Seekers in US and UK

Artificial intelligence (AI) is playing an increasingly significant role in the job application process, with a substantial number of job seekers leveraging AI tools to enhance their prospects, according to a recent survey.

The survey, conducted by Statista+, reveals a notable trend in the adoption of AI among professionals in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Approximately 70% of American professionals have utilized AI at least once during their job search within the past two years. In the UK, the figure stands at 64%, highlighting a widespread shift in job-seeking behavior across both nations.

The motivations behind using AI are largely pragmatic, driven by a desire to improve performance and increase the likelihood of securing employment. A significant portion of users, 49%, employ AI to compensate for weaknesses such as spelling errors or inadequate design skills.

An equal percentage, 48%, believe that AI enhances their overall chances of being hired and rely on it to tailor each job application to specific requirements, viewing it as a form of professional support.

Furthermore, 46% of respondents indicated that AI tools help them save time and expedite the application process.

Among the various AI tools available, Large Language Models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT are the most popular, with 73% of American and 86% of British job seekers using them.

Resume and cover letter generators like Canva, Kickresume, and Adobe are also widely used, with adoption rates of 58% in the US and 43% in the UK.

Text and document enhancement tools, including Grammarly and LanguageTool, are utilized by 55% of American and 46% of British job seekers.

AI-powered image and design creation tools are employed by 47% of US and 30% of UK professionals.

Applicant management platforms supported by AI are used by 47% in America and 29% in Britain. Translation tools like DeepL and Google Translate have also found their place, with usage rates of 45% and 38% respectively.

Video creation tools such as Synthesia are used by 31% in the US and 13% in the UK.
