Jordan Foils Cyberattack on Media Institute, Boosts National Readiness

AMMAN - Jordan's National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) said it thwarted a cyberattack targeting the Jordan Media Institute's website, emphasizing the country's heightened state of cyber readiness amid regional developments.

NCSC Chief Mohammed al-Smadi stated that technical teams successfully countered the attempted breach of an internal link on the institute's website on Saturday. He highlighted the immediate response and containment of the incident.

Al-Smadi clarified that the cyber intrusion was addressed in coordination with the institute's administration, taking only minutes to fully contain the impact without significantly affecting services or data integrity.

The NCSC has not received reports of other cyberattack attempts targeting official websites, al-Smadi confirmed. He added that the national monitoring system operates around the clock to detect and address any suspicious cyber activity, adhering to international best practices and standards.

In light of regional developments, al-Smadi said all national institutions and vital sectors have been instructed to elevate their cyber readiness, enhance preventative measures, ensure system updates and backups, and activate business continuity and crisis management plans.

Al-Smadi stressed the importance of immediate coordination with the NCSC upon suspicion of any cyber incident or threat indicators. Reports can be made through official channels or the emergency hotline (065900500) to ensure a swift response and minimize potential risks.
