AMMAN - Jordan has established an emergency team dedicated to the tourism sector, responding to current regional developments and aiming to mitigate potential impacts on air travel and tourist activity, according to the Tourism Minister.

Tourism Minister Imad Hijazeen announced the formation of the team, comprising various relevant authorities, to closely monitor unfolding events and assess their direct and indirect effects.

The announcement was made during a Ramadan iftar hosted by the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association on Saturday, attended by ministers, members of parliament, senators, ambassadors, and representatives from tourism and travel agencies involved in inbound tourism.

Hijazeen emphasized the vital role played by the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association, highlighting its alignment with the objectives of the Economic Modernization Vision's executive program for 2026-2029.

He affirmed the ministry's commitment to strengthening partnerships and cooperation with various stakeholders to advance the tourism sector, implement programs and initiatives to increase tourist numbers, diversify the tourism product, and improve the quality of services offered.

These efforts, he added, aim to enhance Jordan's competitiveness in the regional and international tourism landscape.

Nabeh Riyal, Chairman of the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association, expressed his deep appreciation for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' ongoing support for the association's efforts.

He underscored the importance of effective partnerships between the public and private sectors in elevating Jordan's tourism sector and enhancing its competitiveness in global markets.
