AMMAN - Jordan is bracing for a spell of cold weather across most regions, accompanied by potential frost formation in elevated areas, according to weather forecasts.
The chill extends until Wednesday, with daytime conditions remaining sunny but cold in many areas. Warmer temperatures are expected in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba.
The Jordan Meteorological Department warns of possible frost formation in the early morning hours, particularly over mountainous highlands and parts of the desert. There is also a risk of fog developing over the high northern mountain peaks.
Sunday will see cold conditions prevailing in most areas, with slightly milder temperatures in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Some low-altitude clouds are expected. Winds will be moderate, blowing from the northwest.
Today's expected temperatures in East Amman range from a high of 13 degrees Celsius to a low of 4 degrees Celsius. West Amman will see highs of 11 degrees Celsius and lows of 2 degrees Celsius. Northern highlands will experience temperatures between 10 degrees Celsius and 0 degrees Celsius, while the Sharah highlands will range from 11 degrees Celsius to -1 degrees Celsius. The Badia region will see temperatures between 15 degrees Celsius and 2 degrees Celsius. Plains areas will range from 14 degrees Celsius to 4 degrees Celsius. The northern Jordan Valley will see temperatures between 20 degrees Celsius and 5 degrees Celsius, while the southern Jordan Valley will range from 22 degrees Celsius to 11 degrees Celsius. The Dead Sea will experience temperatures between 21 degrees Celsius and 10 degrees Celsius, and the Gulf of Aqaba will range from 22 degrees Celsius to 10 degrees Celsius.
