Royal Jordanian has suspended flights to several countries following closures of their airspace, according to CEO Samer Majali.

The decision to suspend flights comes amid regional tensions, Majali stated, though he did not elaborate on the specific cause. The airline is prioritizing the safety of its passengers, he emphasized.

Flights to Syria, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar remain suspended due to the airspace closures in those countries, Majali told Al Mamlaka TV.

Despite the disruptions, Majali said there were no Royal Jordanian passengers stranded in airports. He expressed gratitude to the Jordanian government, the Armed Forces, and the Civil Aviation Authority for their efforts in keeping Jordanian airspace open, except for brief periods due to security concerns.

Royal Jordanian flights to Europe, the Americas, North Africa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon departed with delays and have since returned to their regular schedules, according to Majali. However, operations to Iraq, Syria, and Gulf countries remain suspended due to the ongoing airspace closures.

Majali said that flights are departing to Europe, the Americas, Egypt, North Africa, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon with minor delays, while closures to the other mentioned countries continue. No flights have been diverted, as Jordanian airspace remains open.

Royal Jordanian is committed to serving passengers both abroad and in Jordan, Majali affirmed. He explained that the airline is managing the situation by suspending flights to countries that close their airspace. For example, passengers traveling from Jordan to Syria are being transported by bus from Queen Alia Airport to Damascus.

Majali reiterated that, to his knowledge, no passengers are stranded. Some passengers traveling with other airlines or Royal Jordanian to the Gulf countries are waiting at Queen Alia Airport for flights to resume.
