Amman - Jordan's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said it thwarted a cyberattack targeting the country's wheat silos, preventing potential damage to the strategic grain reserves.

The attempted breach aimed to manipulate the temperature controls within the silos, potentially spoiling the stored wheat, according to NCSC Chief Mohammad Smadi.

Smadi stated that the cyberattack was traced back to Iran. The NCSC's technical teams acted swiftly to counter the intrusion, ensuring no disruption to the silo management system.

The NCSC emphasized that its national monitoring system operates around the clock to detect and address any suspicious cyber activity, adhering to international best practices.

In response to the escalating cyber threats, the NCSC had previously alerted national institutions and critical infrastructure sectors to enhance their cyber readiness and strengthen preventive measures.

The center has also provided a hotline (065900500) for reporting cyber incidents or threats.
