MALAYSIA’S PARTICIPATION IN THE HUMANITARIAN AIR BRIDGE TO GAZA LED BY THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN

On 1 February 2025, Malaysia through the Embassy of Malaysia in Amman has participated in the preparation of the Phase II of the Humanitarian Air Bridge to Gaza, led by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Malaysian delegation was received by Commander of King Abdullah II Airbase, Col. Plt. Osama Al Khatib and Jordanian AIr Force. This participation was pursuant to the contribution of USD5 million by the people of Malaysia from the Humanitarian Trust Fund for the People of Palestine, also known as AAKRP (Akaun Amanah Kemanusiaan Rakyat Palestin) to the Jordanian Government on 18 December 2024, which will be utilised for this airbridge operation. Prior to this, Malaysia has participated in the inauguration of the air bridge that was held on 28 January 2025.
The humanitarian air bridge will carry urgent relief consists of medical aids, food supplies, baby essentials, and women supplies direct into the affected areas. This initiative was directed by the King of Jordan, His Majesty King Abdullah II which will operate for 8 days from 28 January to 4 February 2025, using 16 helicopters with 16 daily flights by the Royal Jordanian Air Force in coordination with friendly countries. Malaysia, Greece, and Italy were among the earliest friendly countries that have supported operation, and more countries are expected to participate in the coming days.
The air bridge is part of Jordan’s ongoing humanitarian commitment, with the country being the first to break the blockade on Gaza by land and air. Malaysia will continue to support Jordan's initiative in helping to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza that has worsened since the war began on 7 October 2023.
Malaysia remains steadfast in its commitment towards the Palestinian people for their right to 
self-determination in a sovereign and independent Palestinian state, based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Malaysia stands firmly in solidarity with the Palestinian people, advocating for their freedom, dignity, and justice at the global stage.
