Will store opening hours be set in Amman?

The President of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Commerce,
Khalil El Haj Tawfiq, revealed that the study of issuing a system to determine
the hours of business in Amman is not binding on official entities, stressing
that no decision has been taken in this regard to date.
Al-Haj Tawfiq said on Friday, throw Roya channel, that the
study prepared by the Amman Chamber of Commerce excluded some commercial
sectors that provide essential goods and services to citizens.
Al-Haj Tawfiq stated that limiting the working hours of
certain sectors will also stimulate the activities of other sectors such as
restaurants and "cafes."
He noted that the study by the Amman Chamber of Commerce
will recommend the issuance of a system to determine the opening and closing
hours of shops in the capital according to the needs and requirements of the
commercial sector.
Al-Haj Tawfiq added that the study included the opinion of 3
thousand of shop owners in different occupation 18 and multiple sectors in
order to determine the opening and closing hours of shops in 19 geographical
area within the borders of the capital.
According to Haj Tawfiq, the study found that 60.2 % of
business owners supported the idea of limiting working hours, while 24.5 %
opposed.
The study revealed
that 52.8 % of those in favor of working hours will start opening shops at 10
a.m. throughout the year, adding that 52.6 % of those in favor of closing shops
will start at 8 p.m. during winter, while 10 % will close in summer.
