RyanAir Airways raises the number of flights to Jordan to 25
AlAnbat - Haya Alsaber
Ireland's low-cost
tourism activation authority and airline RyanAir have renewed their cooperation
agreement to run until 2028.
The agreement
included an increase of 4 new lines for the company, bringing the number of
lines marching to Jordan to 25 linking the Kingdom with 12 European cities, an
unprecedented figure in the Kingdom's history.
The signing ceremony
was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Chairman of the Board
of Directors of the Authority, Makram Al-Qaisi, Chief Executive Officer of RyenAir,
Eddie Wilson, and Director General of the Tourism Promotion Authority, Dr.
Abdul Razak Arabiyat.
"This agreement
reflects the importance of low-cost aviation in attracting tourists to
Jordan," Al-Qaisi said during the signing ceremony, pointing out that the
Kingdom has seen a positive shift in tourist traffic in recent years following
the end of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
"We are pleased
that the number of the lines will be increased with Ryanair Worldwide, which
will have the effect of significantly increasing the number of tourists to the
Kingdom over the coming period."
"Low-cost
flights have given new impetus to Jordanian tourism, enabling it to make a
significant leap that has contributed to increasing tourist numbers," said
the Director-General of the Tourism Activation Authority.
Arabiat predicted
that the Kingdom will see rising numbers of overnight tourists, stating that
this positive shift has been moving forward strongly since its inception in
2018.
The expected increase
in tourist numbers would contribute to the distribution of tourism development
gains to all governorates, in addition to marketing tourism experiences in the
Kingdom, which would be reflected in local communities for the purpose of creating
new jobs.
Arabiat stated that
Ryanair has a large number of followers on its social media pages, and
therefore professional and strong marketing content is invested in them to
raise awareness of tourism in Jordan.
In turn, the CEO of
Ryanair expressed his pleasure at renewing the cooperation agreement with
Jordan, which began five years ago, which will contribute to increasing the
number of its lines to the Kingdom.
He noted that the
launch of Ryen Air services in Jordan had had a positive impact on enhancing
the dynamism of the tourism sector, which had led to an increase in the flow of
entirely new categories of tourists to Jordan, especially from eastern Europe.
Wilson pointed out
that the renewal of the agreement between the Authority and the Ryen Air will
contribute to increasing the number of routes to 25 lines within more than 100
flights per week, expecting more than 600 thousand passengers to and from Jordan
annually, leading to a growth of up to 30 percent in flights to Jordan compared
to 2022.
Three new lines would
link Amman with Italy's Pisa, Belgian Brussels and French Marseille, adding
that a fourth line would link the city of Aqaba with Spanish Madrid.
Ryanair has launched
its first flights to the Kingdom on 27/03/2018, with 715,660,000 passengers
arriving in Oman (through Queen Alia International Airport) since the start of
operation until 31 July 2023.
The number of
passengers arriving in Amman (through Queen Alia International Airport) from
the beginning of 2023 to 31 July 2023 has reached 135,255.
The number of
passengers arriving in Aqaba (through King Hussein International Airport) since
its inception to 31 March 2023 has reached 99,512. From 1 November 2022 to 31
March 2023, the number of passengers arriving in Aqaba (King Hussein
International Airport) reached 30,261.
Ryanair's presence on
social media is one of the strongest in the world's aviation sector, with 5
million followers on their Facebook page, 1.1 million followers on their
Instagram page, 766,000 followers on their Twitter page, 98.3 thousand
subscribers on their YouTube channel and 634,000 followers on their LinkedIn
page.
The number of
visitors to their social media pages has reached 54.6 million per month, which
is of great marketing and promotional importance for Jordan.
