Jordan hosted the ADCC World Championships, the largest and
most famous grappling wrestling tournament in the world, which is considered
one of the fastest growing sports in the world, alongside mixed martial arts
(MMA). The tournament organizes more than 200 events every year around the
world, and the schedule of these events includes a qualifying round for each
continent that qualifies for the World Championships, which is held every two
years.
Jordan hosted five championships in 2022 after a hiatus due
to the Corona pandemic, and was the first host of this tournament in the Middle
East, in addition to hosting the tournament in January 2023, which put Jordan
on the map of this game and made it a destination for players and fans of this
sport from the Middle East, North Africa and some European countries.
The tournament contributes to tourism, as it is an important
factor in attracting tourists to Jordan, and attracting many players who are
fans of this game from more than 25 countries. The international Amman round
and the Dead Sea round have been fixed, and the organizing committee of the
tournament looks forward to enhancing its efforts to benefit from the momentum
and the Kingdom's location in increasing the attraction of sports tourism and
considering the possibility of holding a tournament in the city of Aqaba in the
future.
