An American warning not to approach Iranian waters
Alanbat - Rana Amara
The US Fifth Fleet has warned ships sailing in the strategic
Strait of Hormuz to stay away from Iranian waters to avoid the risk of being
detained.
And " Agency France Presse " quoted a spokesman
for the US Fifth Fleet, which is based in Bahrain, Tim Hawkins, that the
International Alliance for the Security and Protection of Maritime Navigation
and Ensuring the Safety of Sea Corridors (IMSC) led by Washington
"notifies regional sailors of appropriate precautionary measures to reduce
the risks of ships being detained." on current regional tensions.
These warnings come days after the United States reinforced
its military presence in the region, and Washington and Tehran reached an
agreement to exchange prisoners that includes the release of frozen Iranian funds,
which raised hopes of easing tensions between the two rivals.
The alliance was established in 2019, which includes 11
countries, namely the United States, Britain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain,
Albania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and the Seychelles Islands, while
the alliance's mission is to "provide security for shipping in the Middle
East region.”
