The President of the Amman and Jordan Industry Chambers,
Eng. Fathi AlJaghbeir, appreciated the decision of the Minister of Education to
compel the purchase of private schools in school uniforms from local factories,
praising the efforts of the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supply in
pursuing the implementation of government decisions to support national
industry.
He added that this decision, which follows the earlier Prime
Minister's communiqué, contributes to support for the local industry, especially
the industry, whose exports account for 27% of total national exports and a
value of about 1.6 billion dinars.
AlJaghbeir explained that the crochet sector employs about
74 thousand workers and 29% of the total employment in the industrial sector.
Jordan's employment accounts for about 25% of the total employed in the crochet
sector. The number of Jordanian workers has increased significantly in recent
years as a result of the productive branches of the crochet factories in the
governorates.
He pointed that the decision will contribute to the recovery
of complementary industries for school uniforms, sewing concerns, local fabric
dealers, increasing exports and expanding investment in the sector, especially
since statistics indicate that there are approximately 450 thousand students
educated in private schools, where local factories can meet the needs of
various private schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for school uniforms and
high quality.
