Energy: Increased quantities of Iraqi crude oil exported to the Kingdom
Alanbat - Rana Amara
On Sunday, the
Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources announced an increase in the
quantities of Iraqi crude oil exported to the Kingdom from 10,000 barrels per
day to 15,000 barrels per day.
The Director of the
Directorate of Oil and Natural Gas in the Ministry, Eng. Iman Awwad, said that
the Iraqi side agreed to increase the quantities from the beginning of the
current month of August, with the same contractual terms contained in the
memorandum of understanding for the supply of crude oil signed between the
Jordanian and Iraqi governments on 4/5/2023.
She added that the
ministry has made all the necessary technical and logistical arrangements to
transfer these quantities from the oil loading site in Iraq, the "modern
Kirkuk depot", to the Jordan Petroleum Refinery in Zarqa, and thus the
monthly quantity exported of Iraqi crude oil to Jordan will reach about (450)
thousand barrels per month Instead of (300) thousand barrels per month.
The increase in the quantities of oil
comes as a result of the fruitful talks held during the visit of the Prime
Minister at the head of a ministerial delegation to Baghdad on July 24, and
reaching a common consensus to increase the quantities of Iraqi crude oil
exported to Jordan.
