Al-Anbat -
the U.S. Embassy in Amman celebrated the 247th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.  The event emphasized the U.S.-Jordan bilateral relationship and highlighted the deep cultural ties between the two countries.  In celebration of American movies that have been filmed in Jordan, the program showcased Hollywood and its impact on American culture.
"Film does not just sell tickets, but it also captures our imagination. It brings people closer. From the way movies make us feel, to the stories they convey, they have become more than entertainment, they are a bedrock and mainstay of American culture, and culture around the world,” said U.S. Ambassador Henry Wooster.
The U.S. Embassy in Amman has been working closely with Jordanian institutions to promote cultural exchange through film. The Embassy has funded master classes with experts from Hollywood and elsewhere to train Jordan’s emerging writers, filmmakers, and cinematographers to promote inclusive-economic growth.
During the event, the Ambassador also reaffirmed the United States' commitment to supporting Jordan's political and economic modernization reforms. He highlighted the seven-year, more than $10 billion memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries last year, which is already supporting these initiatives and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Independence Day, which Americans celebrate as the birthday of the United States of America, takes place on July 4 each year, in honor of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
"This year marks 247 years of independence and it is our honor to commemorate this day with our friends and partners in the beautiful Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” said the U.S. Ambassador to Jordan.”
