Athletes: Jordan is the lung of Palestinian Sports

Jordanian and Palestinian athletes emphasized that Jordan was and still is the lung from which Palestinian sports breathe, in light of the siege and arrogance practiced by the Zionist occupation in harassing Palestinian teams and clubs in various sports.

The Palestinian teams and clubs are keen to hold matches and training camps in Amman, to escape the siege of the occupation, as they find in Jordan the welcome and reception that reflects the depth of the relationship between the two brotherly people.

The Olympic team's visit to Palestine to participate in the opening of the Pele Stadium and to play a festive friendly match with its Palestinian counterpart yesterday, confirms the great support provided by Jordanian sports to its sister in Palestine in various circumstances and times.

In the past years, many Palestinian teams and clubs have held training camps in Jordan, and even Palestinian teams often choose Amman stadiums as a home stadium in light of the difficulty of holding matches in Palestine due to the Zionist occupation forces.

Jordan is always keen to open its sports stadiums and cities to the brothers in Palestine, and to facilitate their tasks, within the framework of Jordanian support for the Palestinian cause.

Former Jordanian football star and current coach, Ahmad Hayel, confirmed that Jordan's opening of its stadiums and sports cities to Palestinian teams, especially in football, is a natural act in light of the support Jordan provides to its brothers in all sectors, including the sports sector.

Hayel stated that His Highness Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Football Association, had always instructed us to facilitate the task of any Palestinian team requesting to play in Amman or to set up training camps, pointing out that the Jordanian teams and clubs are keen to meet the invitations to visit Palestine to play on its stadiums, on various occasions in support of for the just Palestinian cause. 

For his part, the Palestinian journalist and sports commentator, Qussai Abu-Sharkh, said that Jordanian football, for many years, has provided a lot of support and assistance to the Palestinian sport, including helping Palestinian football get the home stadium as an official one during international and Asian competitions.

He added, in a statement to (Petra) from Palestine, "Most of the Palestinian stadiums were opened with the participation of Jordanian teams and clubs, and the Jordanian stadiums opened their arms to Palestinian teams and clubs at a time when the Palestinian stadium was not internationally accredited due to the Zionist occupation."

Abu-Sharkh stated that the Palestinian player "showed creativity during his professional career in Jordanian clubs, after receiving great support from the pillars of Jordanian sports, and this is something we will never forget”, appreciating the great support that Jordan provides to the Palestinian cause at various levels, including the sports sector.

In turn, the retired Palestinian football star, Fadi Lafi, who previously played professionally in 3 Jordanian clubs, confirmed that Jordan was and continues to be supportive of Palestinian football, in all circumstances. He referred to his long professional experience in Jordan, which reflected positively on the technical level of his career and for the interest of Palestinian football.
