International Monetary
Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva says countries must do more to
avoid the costly fallout of growing fragmentation of global trade and help
avoid a "second Cold War."
Speaking at a news
conference at the official start of the World Bank's and IMF spring meetings,
Georgieva said that the question is whether more can be done in terms of
securing supplies without over risking a second Cold War.
I'm one of those who
experienced the consequences of the Cold War a loss of talent and international
contribution, I don't want to see that repeated, she said, explaining that the
world must rationally accept that there will be some cost, there will be some
dispersion, but the costs must be kept low.
