Britons suffer from high household bills as government subsidies halt

Millions of households and businesses in Britain are facing a new wave of bill hikes from April that will increase their spending by hundreds of pounds a year.

The British newspaper The Independent said, Millions of households, individuals and businesses will be affected by increases in broadband, mobile, water and council tax bills from Saturday, coinciding with the end of the government aid program for energy bills.

The newspaper added that most local authorities will raise the council tax by 5% from this April, and water bills will rise by an average of £31, an increase of 7.5 percent, while Internet and mobile phone prices are expected to increase by 14% to 17%.
