Draft: Reducing collection fees for passports of investors and their families

The Legislation and Opinion Bureau published a draft amended system for the passport fees system for the year 2023, which aims to enhance opportunities to attract investors to establish projects for the purposes of obtaining Jordanian nationality.  

And according to what was seen by Hala News, on Tuesday evening, the draft included amendments to the original system that included reducing some collection fees for an ordinary passport whose holder does not acquire Jordanian nationality issued for a specific period for the purposes of encouraging investment, as shown below.  

The amended system reduced the fees for issuing an ordinary passport for the first time from 25,000 dinars to 15,000 dinars, according to the draft. 

The draft kept collecting 2,500 dinars for renewing the passport if it had  expired, but reduced the fees for renewing the passport if it had not expired, from 5,000 dinars to 3,000 dinars.  

A fee of 2,500 dinars remains for issuing a damaged and lost replacement for the first time, according to the draft, which reduced, in return, the fees for issuing a lost passport after the first time, from 5,000 dinars to 3,000 dinars.  

According to the draft, the fees for renewing the passport, if it was presented to the Civil Status and Passports Department without its holder, were reduced from 6,000 dinars to 3,000 dinars.  

A fee of 250 dinars remains for adding to it for any of the bearer’s children under the age of sixteen, but the draft amended a paragraph stating that "400 dinars fees are collected for issuing a separate passport for the spouse of the holder of the passport or one of his children,” so that it is collected  Fees of "400 dinars for issuing a separate passport for family members of the passport holder."  

For family members of the passport holder, a fee of 400 dinars remains for renewing an expired or non-expired passport or issuing a damaged replacement, 500 dinars for issuing a replacement for a lost passport for the first time, 1000 dinars for issuing a replacement for a passport lost after the first time, and 750 dinars for  Renewal of the passport if it was presented to the Civil Status and Passports Department without it’s s holder.
