Al-Shraideh: The vision of economic modernization is the result of a national action in which personalities from various activities participated

Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Modernization of the Public Sector Nasser Al-Shraideh said that the economic modernization vision, which was sponsored by His Majesty the King in the middle of last year, was immediately followed by the formation of four ministerial committees and 22 specialized teams to develop an executive program that will work to meet the ambitions of the royal vision and targets.

In an interview with the "Sixty Minutes" program, which was broadcast by Jordanian television on Friday evening, Al-Shraideh said that the Cabinet approved this executive program in December of last year, indicating that the government is at the beginning of work on implementing this program to translate the royal directives that focused on two aspects, They are commitment to implementation and communication with concerned representatives of the private sector, the National Assembly and various other events, as well as with the media sector.

Al-Shraideh added that this vision came as a result of national action in which more than 500 personalities from various activities participated, and the participants set directions and targets related to three main elements: stimulating growth so that it gradually increases until it reaches 5.5 percent in the year 2033, and providing one million opportunities ,work until the year 2033, as for the third target, it is linked to the primary targets with the aim of attracting and stimulating no less than 41 billion Jordanian dinars of local and foreign investments required to stimulate economic activity and generate job opportunities.

And Al-Shraideh indicated that the government program has come with more specific targets and reads the economic reality within the internal, regional and global scene, pointing out that the executive program 2023-2025 is the first phase of three phases that extends for ten years, and the first phase is the most important because it will build the real base that fulfills the main requirements, to be able to implement the executive program, to generate the required momentum for economic recovery and growth, and to unleash the various potentials and opportunities in the various sectors indicated by the royal vision.

Al-Shraideh stressed that the government effort aims to reach the target growth rate and increase the volume of investment and exports from its current level, and we also aspire to increase per capita GDP to reach 4000 dinars in the year 2025, with the realization that future challenges may arise, we need to hedge our policies must take into account these developments in the light of a realistic reading of the scene, so that our goals can reach what we aspire to.

Al-Shraideh talked about the achievements that Jordan has achieved in the past two years, from a growth rate of 2.7 percent last year as a result of prudent policies that maintained financial and monetary stability. Jordan was also able to increase foreign investment by a large percentage, raise the rate of national exports, and maintain comfortable rates of Foreign currency reserves amount to 17 billion dinars, indicating that the recovery achieved by the tourism sector was remarkable, and the number of tourists increased by more than 90 percent. All these achievements were achieved despite the inflationary pressures experienced by the Jordanian economy.

He added that the situation of the Jordanian economy has shifted from stable to positive according to international credit rating agencies, and Jordan was able to successfully complete five reviews with the International Monetary Fund.

Al-Shraideh stressed the importance of building on this momentum generated by these achievements, and proceeding according to the calendar set by the government with time programs with performance indicators for specific outputs that are monitored monthly, noting that all sectors and in various priorities are proceeding according to the plans set.

And he indicated that the Prime Minister, in all cabinet meetings, follows up on existing priorities and stresses the importance of moving forward with the implementation of all priorities according to the timetable set in the executive program.

Al-Shraideh expressed his belief in the government's ability to translate the efforts led by His Majesty the King in the regional environment into economic cooperation programs and open more horizons for bilateral cooperation with the regional environment in the economic, trade and investment aspects, and in aspects of common infrastructure with those countries, as well as the effort made with a number of Global economies to enhance Jordan's export potential, and to enhance Jordan's competitiveness in attracting more investments and benefiting from the existing free trade agreements with many countries.
