Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA) warned of the risks overuse of painkillers or (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), and in frequent or high doses without consultation Doctor or pharmacist

The Foundation's Director General Dr. Nazar Mehidat said in a statement to the Foundation on Thursday that the misuse of painkillers could increase the risk of severe kidney failure or deficiency in liver work, heart attacks and strokes.

He also warned of the most common painkillers abuse practices such as taking more than one type of painkillers at the same time with different brand names containing the same pharmacological formula (scientific name), thus taking high doses of the same active substance and increasing serious side effects, or over-taking painkillers in the common cold and taking injections from them frequently.

He stressed that non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or analgesics are not the first choice to relieve pain and it is possible to use other drugs and do some practices to relieve pain in general according to its type before resorting to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or analgesics, calling on citizens to inform the institution about the side effects of drugs.
