The Iraqi President, Abdullatif Rashid, called for attention and focus on the restoration of Iraq's monuments and rich heritage and the restoration of the sabotage suffered by terrorism.

The Iraqi president, during the reception of UNESCO Director Audrey Azoulay, in Baghdad on Monday, said, "Cooperation between Iraq and UNESCO must develop the sectors of education, culture and science, and preserve the country's heritage and cultural diversity," noting that Iraq is ancient with its archaeological monuments, which requires a comprehensive survey of undiscovered archaeological sites by forming a constantly present working group.

In addition, Azoulay praised Iraq’s achievements at the cultural and educational levels, as well as the preservation of the country’s cultural, humanitarian and antiquities heritage. She expressed UNESCO's readiness to provide all possible types of support to Iraq in order to preserve Iraq's monuments and distinguished heritage.
