Northern Iraq hit by two earthquakes

Northern Iraq was hit, at dawn today, Saturday, by two earthquakes measuring 4.3 and 4 on the Richter scale.


The Iraqi Meteorological Organization and Seismology said that an earthquake measuring 4.3 degrees occurred at 2:25 a.m in Nineveh Governorate, north of the capital, Baghdad, and was felt by citizens in Nineveh, Erbil and Dohuk.

Another tremor of Magnitude 4 occurred on the Richter scale, 22 km northeastern in Erbil Governorate, northern Iraq.

The Center reported that the tremor occurred at 3:09 a.m, stressing that citizens felt the two tremors in the northern governorates unevenly without the occurrence of visible losses.
