Tourism income records the highest level in January in 10 years.

Tourism income during January 2023 recorded its highest level for the same month in ten years, reaching $551.8 million.  

The latest data issued by the Central Bank indicates an increase in tourism income during January of 2023, compared to the corresponding month of last year, by 215.1 million dinars, or 122.2%, to reach 391.2 million dinars ($551.8 million), to record its highest level in a month. 

 January over the past ten years, exceeding its level achieved during the same month of 2020 (pre-closing) by 8.1%. 

 This came as a result of the increase in the number of tourists coming to the Kingdom by about 292.4 thousand tourists, compared to the same month of last year, to reach 504.0 thousand tourists.  

At the same time, the data indicates an increase in spending on tourism outside the Kingdom during January of 2023 by 54.9 million dinars, or 109.1% from its level during the same month of last year, to reach 105.2 million dinars (148.4 million dollars) as a result of the increase in the number of  Tourists leaving abroad by 96.4%.
