The occupation arrests more than seven thousand Palestinians during the past year.

The 2022 Harvest Report, issued by Palestinian prisoner institutions: the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners Club, Addameer Association for Prisoner Care and Human Rights, and Wadi Hilweh Center - Jerusalem, showed that 2022 was the bloodiest year, the most intense in crimes and abuses, compared to the last ten years.

In their annual report, which was issued , On Sunday, the institutions stated that the year 2022 witnessed many shifts in terms of arrest operations carried out by the Israeli occupation forces, which were mainly linked to the escalation of the combat against the occupation.

According to the institutions’ follow-up, the occupation forces arrested 7,000 Palestinians, including Jerusalem and Gaza, and this percentage is higher compared to last year, specifically in the West Bank governorates, including Jerusalem. In the past year, the number of arrest cases in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, reached 6,000 cases, while it was recorded in At that time, there were 2,000 cases of arrest of Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories in 1948.

According to the report, the number of detention cases among children this year reached 882, and among women 172 arrest cases, while the number of administrative detention orders issued, either new or renewed orders, amounted to more than 2,409 administrative detention orders, including orders issued Jerusalemites and Palestinians from the territories occupied in 1948, where the issue of administrative detention constituted the most prominent station in the transformations witnessed this year, with the expansion of the occupation of the circle of administrative detention. Also, the number of those who were subjected to detention reached more than 40 wounded, and part of them were children.

The highest concentration of arrests was in April, with 1,228 cases, followed by May and October, with 690 arrests.

The number of detained deputies reached five, namely: Marwan Al-Barghouti, Ahmed Saadat, and Hassan Youssef, who is still detained, and two are in administrative detention, namely: Muhammad Abu Tair and Nasser Abdel-Jawad.

As for the detained journalists, they were 15, five of them under administrative detention.
