The Governorate of
Aqaba has taken several preventive measures to mitigate the effects of the heat
wave experienced by the Kingdom in general and Aqaba in particular by opening
advanced operations rooms in the governorate building, and the Aqaba Police Directorate,
to receive communications from citizens and visitors to Aqaba in case they are
exposed to any emergency as a result of the wave.
The governor of Aqaba,
Khaled Hajjaj, stated in a press statement on Tuesday that operations rooms
have been opened to address all the problems facing citizens and visitors, in
addition to reducing the working hours of the workers of the homeland during
the heat wave and working in sufficient numbers to reduce their exposure to
heat stroke.
Al-Hajjaj added that
the operations rooms are operating round-the-clock in various governorate areas
in collaboration and coordination with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone
Authority to address all citizen complaints, particularly those relating to the
continuity of electricity and water, which are in high demand on days when
temperatures are close to 50 degrees Celsius during daylight hours.
