Qatar: Small and medium industries account for 84% of operating factories

A recent study by the Qatari Ministry of Commerce and Industry said that small and medium industries account for about 84 percent of the total number of factories currently operating in Qatar.

 The study, published on Monday in the ministry's website, indicated that the number of factories in the small and medium industries sector is currently about 900 operating factories, compared to 664 factories in 2018.

 The total number of large factories is currently about 141 factories, with a growth rate of 8 percent, while their number at the end of 2018 reached about 131 factories, accounting for 16 percent of the total number of Qatari factories.

Small industries are defined as those in which the investment volume is less than 10 million Qatari riyals, medium industries are those in which the investment volume ranges from 10 to 50 million riyals, and large industries are those whose capital amounts to 50 million riyals or more.
