UN official warns of the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza

The Humanitarian
Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory of the United Nations, Len
Hastings, warned of the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza as a result of
the current escalation.
Hastings expressed in
a statement, on Saturday, its grave concern "at the continuing and dangerous
escalation of violence in Gaza,” which has so far claimed the lives of 15
Palestinians due to Israeli air strikes, including a 5-year-old girl and two
women, and injured more than 100 Palestinians, to in addition, residential
areas in Gaza were bombed and homes were damaged, leaving 31 families homeless.
It called for the
immediate authorization of the United Nations and its humanitarian partners to
bring in fuel, food and medical supplies and to deploy humanitarian personnel
in accordance with international principles.
