Al-Hassan Industrial Estate’s exports since the beginning of this year 2022
amounted about $297 million, while its exports amounted to $1133 million last
year, according to the Director General of Industrial Estates Company, Omar
Jwaid .
Jwaid said that Al-Hassan Industrial Estate, which was launched in 1991
and today hosts 135 industrial investments volume of approximately 429 million
dinars, characterized by the diversity of its investments, of which foreign
investments are the most.
He pointed out that the number of industrial companies is (135)
companies operating in several industrial fields with an investment volume of
approximately 429 million dinars provided nearly 29,000 job opportunities
,meanwhile their exports reached ($1133) million last year , while exports
since the beginning of this year 2022 reached about ($297) million .
Jwaid indicated that the operating companies are distributed according
to the industrial sectors as follows: (35) companies operating in the food
sector, (31) in the textile sector, (9) in the pharmaceutical industries, (20)
in the plastics industries, and (16) in the chemical industries. While (4) works in the field of printing and
packaging, (14) in the engineering field, (5) in the leather industries, (2) in
the field of furniture and kitchens, and (1) in the field of construction
industries.
He added that investments in Al Hassan Industrial City are distributed
among different nationalities, including (83) Jordanian investments, (26) Arab
(11) Jordanian-Arab joint, (2) foreign -Jordanian and (12) foreign investments,
where their products are exported to various Arab and Asian markets, Europe and
America.

The existing investments in
Al-Hassan Industrial Estate have provided approximately (29) thousand jobs in
various fields, including nearly (6) thousand Jordanians and about (23)
thousand jobs for migrant workers.
The city contributed to promoting development in Irbid governorate and
the north of the Kingdom by activating various economic sectors and providing
different job opportunities.
Jwaid noted that the challenges and issues related to the industrial
sector, cities and industrial development areas in all locations are similar, expressing
his hope to come up with a strategy that will overcome all challenges and
contribute to simplifying procedures, providing support for investments and
enhancing the competitiveness of the Jordanian product in the local markets and
abroad in order to achieve the economic, developmental and social goals of
cities and development areas.
He pointed out that the city has signed several memorandums of
understanding with official universities to network between industrial
companies and university graduates in order to provide appropriate training
opportunities in industrial companies operating in the city, as well as
harnessing the potential of universities in order to support the scientific
research process of industrial companies, which include these universities:
Technology, Al-Yarmouk, AlBalqa Applied.
He stressed that the city has significant contributions to support the
development process in the local community by sponsoring its events and
contributing to various activities supporting the work of charities, sports
clubs, cultural forums and others.
The expansion is being carried out on an area of 214 acres on the
northern borders of the city and that the implementation work on the expansion
project started mid-2019 and its cost is estimated at 4 million dinars. It
comes after the occupancy of the first three phases of the city, which is
witnessing high investment demand in various industrial investment fields,
including the development of industrial estates and the implementation of
prepared industrial buildings.
The new expansion is the fourth after the third fully occupied, which
was announced and implemented during 2013, with an area of approximately (145) acres
and included (25) investment pieces and industrial buildings with a total area
of 11.500 square meters distributed over (16) typical factories.
Jwaid expected that the expansion site would witness a high demand for
investment, as the project land was divided into approximately (34) industrial
pieces that meet the various needs of investors, while the project will
contribute to supporting the distinguished process of the city, especially as
it obsess for more than 80% of the governorate’s export of Irbid Industrial
City, in addition to the job opportunities that the expansion will provide for
Jordanian workers, whether in the implementation stages or during the operating
stage of the industrial companies that will start their work in it, in
conjunction with government efforts aimed at providing job opportunities for
the sons and daughters of the Kingdom.
It is reported that Al-Hassan Industrial City, which was established in
1991, is considered the first qualified industrial area in Jordan with a total
area of 1,178 acres while it is considered the second industrial city
established by the Industrial Cities Company in the Kingdom after Abdullah II
Ibn Al-Hussein Industrial City in Sahab, as it is located near the border
crossings with Syria and Iraq.
