According to the Central Bank, the value of
funds loaned by local banks in the first two months of this year was 424
million dinars.
The total value of loans at the end of February reached 30.45 billion
dinars, compared to 30.02 billion dinars at the end of last year, according to
the schedule of credit facilities granted by banks according to type.
Thus, the value of credit facilities increased in the first two months
by 1.4% compared to its level at the end of the year.
Credit facilities are defined as the services provided to customers by
which individuals, institutions and establishments in the community are
provided with the necessary funds, provided that the debtor undertakes to pay
those funds, their interests, the commissions due on them and the expenses in
one go or in installments on specific dates. Bank credit is granted based on a
set of conditions, including the existence of guarantees. Which guarantees the
bank to recover his money in the event the customer stops paying without any
losses.
The value of loans granted to the private sector
amounted to 27.63 billion dinars at the end of last February, an increase of
1.7% over the end of last year, or an amount of 486.3 million dinars. Loans
granted to the private sector constituted 91.5% of the total loans granted by
banks. The value of the facilities within the current debit type at the end of
last February reached 2.83 billion dinars, compared with 2.69 billion dinars,
an increase of 4.8%. The percentage of these facilities out of the total value
of the facilities granted in the first two months of this year was about 9.2%.
While the value of the facilities in the form of loans and advances amounted to
19.11 billion dinars at the end of last February, compared to 18.8 billion
dinars at the end of 2021, an increase of 1.4%. Its percentage to the total
facilities in the first two months of this year amounted to 62.7%. The
facilities under Islamic bank receivables amounted to 8.05 billion dinars in
the first two months of this year, compared to 8.04 billion dinars at the end
of 2021. While the credit facilities under the value of credit cards at the end
of last February amounted to 227.2 million dinars, compared to 220.7 million
dinars at the end of 2021, an increase of 2.9%. While the value of facilities
in the form of discounted bills of exchange amounted to 225.3 million dinars,
compared to 212.4 million dinars with an increase of 6%.
