A spokeswoman for the Energy Regulatory Authority, Tahrir al-Qaq, said
on Friday that the new electricity tariff will not be applied to bills that
include part of the last month, and will be applied in the next bill.
Al-Qaq explained to "Almamlaka" that the application of the
new tariff has entered into force, and the application is according to the
cycle of each bill, and at the end of it, the calculation is done.
Al-Qaq confirmed that the website will continue to receive support
requests from subscribers.
She continued, "This platform will not be closed, because the
citizen needs at any time to change his data, adjust the meter number, and may
need to make any modification through the platform."
She explained that "all bills whose consumption value is less than
600 kilowatts and whose value is approximately 50 dinars, will benefit from the
subsidy."
Amman Chamber of Industry director Nael Al-Husami told Al-Mamlaka that
the new electric tariff will be positive for the medium industrial sector,
indicating that it constitutes 60-70% of the industrial sector consumption.
Al-Hussami explained that the new tariff was reduced on the day tariff
from 79 fils to 68 fils, almost more than 100% reduction, and the nightly
tariff remained the same.
He pointed out that the large industries related to the cement and
mining industries have not undergone any change.
"In total, almost the average
consumption of the entire industrial sector decreased by 5-6% on the industrial
sector tariff," he added.
