The Ministry of Energy and the US Agency for International Development launch a project to support the Jordanian energy sector.

The Ministry
of Energy and Mineral Resources and the US Agency for International Development
in Jordan launched a project to support the Jordanian energy sector, funded by
the Agency, worth $40 million, to be implemented over a period of five years.
The program includes working to achieve
financial sustainability for the electricity sector, strengthening the sector's
regulatory frameworks, and improving its services related to the oil and gas
markets, in addition to dealing with the challenges facing the sector.
The Minister
of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh stressed the
importance of the project in supporting the energy sector in the Kingdom, in a
way that contributes to sustainable development efforts and enhances the
efficiency of the sector.
Minister Al-Kharabsheh
presented the challenges facing the energy sector and the ministry's directions
to deal with these challenges, especially raising energy efficiency, improving
sector services, enhancing the contribution of renewable energy to electricity
generation, in addition to improving the financial sustainability of the
sector, praising the support provided by the United States of America to
Jordan, especially the energy sector.
For her part, USAID Mission Director Sherry
Carlin affirmed the Agency's commitment to supporting the energy sector in
Jordan within the framework of the support provided by her country to support
development efforts in Jordan.
