Epidemiology reveals details of suspected Omicron case: a person coming from outside

National Epidemiological Committee member Dr. Bassam Hijawi said that the suspect of being infected with the new Corona virus "Omicron" is a person coming from an African country.

Hijawi confirmed that the person spent 14 days in a third country before coming to Jordan.

He added that the person who was suspected of being infected with the mutant virus is currently institutionally quarantined, after he was suspected of being infected with "Omicron".

And he indicated that the case is still under suspicion and being verified in the laboratory, noting that if the infection is confirmed, the Ministry of Health will announce it.

He explained that the case appeared in the PCR tests, and moved to the second stage, then the genetic sequence was tested to confirm it.

He indicated that Jordan has taken the necessary measures according to a protocol since the start of the Omicron Declaration in South Africa.
