The food sector worker in the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, RaedHamadah, asked for the need to reduce the sales tax and service allowance on restaurants’ sector that are not classified as tourism restaurants , along the same line as what tourist restaurants got.

He stressed in a press statement, today, the necessity to respond to the Jordan Chamber of Commerce's continuing demands regarding reducing the sales tax on restaurants not categorized as tourism restaurants from 16 to 8 percent, and the service allowance from 10 to 5 percent to achieve fair competition between establishments operating under the auspices of the sector.

Hamadah said that granting restaurants that are not categorized as tourism a discount on sales tax would reflect positively on the price decline , and the citizen would be the main beneficiary of the consequences of this decision, explaining that the government had reduced the sales tax and service allowance on approximately 1,500 tourist restaurants, while there are 750 restaurants not categorizedas a tourism restaurant, waiting to be included in the decision in order to activate the commercial movement and support the stability of restaurants’ workers, with a number about 10 thousand employees and workers.
