House Speaker expresses condolences over passing of Sultan Qaboos

Al-Anbat - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, on Sunday, mourned the passing of Sultan Qaboos bin Said of Oman, may his soul rest in peace.

In a parliamentary session held Sunday morning to discuss the 2020 budget and government units draft laws, chaired by Tarawneh, in the presence of the cabinet, the Lower House Speaker lauded the late Sultan as "a wise leader, who defended Arab and Islamic causes."

Tarawneh added that His Majesty King Abdullah II recalled the late Sultan's virtues and said he was like the "elder brother", a friend of the late King Hussein, and one of the wise leaders, adding that he was "an ally of Jordan in defending Arab and Islamic causes with wisdom and balance based on firm principles."

Tarawneh expressed his best whishes to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimour Al Said of Oman and to the Sultanate and its peoples progress and prosperity.

He also expressed his condolences to members of Oman's State and Consultation Councils.
