Industry exports rise by 8.7% in first 10 month of 2019

Alanbatnews - Jordan's industrial exports increased by 8.7 percent in the first 10 months of 2019 compared with the same period of 2018, the Jordan Chamber of Industry (JCI) announced Tuesday.

According to JCI statistical data, exports of the leather and garment sector stood at JD1.309 billion during the first 10 months, compared with JD1.112 billion during the same period of last year, with an increase by 17.7 percent, while the mining sector accounted for JD906 million of exports, chemical and cosmetic products for JD815 million and medical supplies for JD565 million.

Also recording a remarkable increase in the value of exports are sectors of the plastic and rubber industries with JD193 million, as well as the construction industry with JD73 million.

Meanwhile, exports of the engineering and information technology industries, packaging industries, and furniture industries dropped by 9.4 percent, 10.8 percent and 15.8 percent respectively during the first to months of the year, in comparison with the same period in 2018.

The JCI report was based on the certificates of origin issued by the chambers of industry in Amman, Irbid and Zarqa.

Jordan produces more than 1250 industrial goods within ten sectors, delivered to global markets of 130 countries.
