JUST ranked first in the Third AIChE Middle East Regional Chem-E-Car Competition

A team from the Department of Chemical Engineering at Jordan University of Science and Technology participated in the Third Regional Competition for chemical cars organized by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, which was held in Bahrain from 14-15 / 10/2019 and won first place Under the supervision of Prof. Munther Kandah and Dr. Muhannad Al-Jarrah. In this case, the team become qualified to participate in the international competition in the United States of America in the month of November. It is important to mention that this is the first time to participate in such competitions by a Jordanian team and achieve the first place regionally. The team consisted of students Mohammed Al Omari, Osama Abu Al Hija, Majd Matalqa, Farah Al Bayari and Tasneem Bani Melhem.

The competition is based on the design of a car in which the mechanism of operation by chemical reactions as well as the mechanism of parking by chemical reactions only without the presence of breaks or any mechanical parts so that the contestants are notified an hour before the start of the competition that they must operate the car that is loaded with a certain weight of water and stop on a line away. The one who stop the car at the nearest distance from the line will be the winner.
