The Head of the Arab Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Atef Tarawneh, welcomed the agreement of civil and military forces in Sudan to establish a sovereign council to manage the country's affairs during the interim period.

In a tweet on the social networking site, Twitter, Tarawneh said: "The Sudanese brethren have made an important step as they struck an agreement to manage the country's affairs by sharing the sovereign council equally between the civil and the military powers."

"We hope this agreement will contribute to achieving their aspirations and preserve their security and stability towards a stable Sudan that meets the hopes of its dear people," he pointed out.

In a meeting with the Sudanese envoy to Jordan, Dr. Fadl Abdullah Fadl, last Wednesday, Tarawneh said: "We in Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, always seek to achieve pan-Arab solidarity and the security and stability of the Arab countries."
