Head of the Arab Parliamentary Union (AIPU), Atef Tarawneh, condemned the terrorist attack by the Houthi militia that targeted the Saudi Abha International Airport Tuesday, injuring a number of civilians.

In a statement released Wednesday, he said targeting civilians is a "blatant" violation of humanitarian values and international norms, stressing the need to take "active and tangible" steps to prevent financing terrorism and combat it.

In the same context, he pointed to increasing the international community's efforts as measure to stop those who impede security and stability in the Arab Gulf area.

Tarawneh reiterated the AIPU's "firm and supportive" stance of Saudi Arabia's efforts and its diplomatic endeavors, which aim to establish security and stability in the Arab and Islamic countries.

He voiced the AIPU's trust in the wisdom of the Saudi leadership and its ability to stand firm and resolute in the face of terrorism.
