Senate committee meets Spanish envoy

The Senate's Jordanian-Spanish Friendship Committee, chaired by Senator Issa Murad, on Sunday discussed boosting bilateral cooperation with Spain's Ambassador to Jordan, Aranzazu Banon Davalos.

Murad described the ties between Jordan and Spain as "deep-rooted and historical," stressing the need to activate the agreements signed to enhance cooperation in various fields, especially in the parliamentary, economic, and tourism fields.

During the meeting, he pointed to the similar stances the two countries have on a number of political issues, especially the need to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East.

Davalos commended His Majesty King Abdullah's efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region, expressing understanding of the heavy burdens the Kingdom is facing as a result of regional instability.

Members of the committee discussed the Palestinian cause which is key to resolving the Arab-Israeli conflict and the achieving peace in the region.
