The "ELIZA effect" can lead people to attribute consciousness and emotions to machines, potentially leading to isolation and a preference for AI relationships. There are risks of emotional manipulation by companies exploiting users' vulnerabilities for commercial gain, as well as legal challenges in assigning responsibility for harmful advice given by AI.
Experts emphasize that AI in mental healthcare should be seen as a tool to augment human capabilities, not replace them. While AI can accurately measure emotional states, it cannot truly share or understand the burden of existence. Human consciousness and the ability to exchange feelings remain uniquely human qualities that cannot be replicated by code.
