BEIRUT - Israeli strikes in the southern suburbs of Beirut killed ten people early Monday, according to a Lebanese medical source, signaling a potential escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The Israeli military stated it launched a series of strikes against Hezbollah targets “throughout Lebanon” on Monday. This action follows claims by the organization that it launched rockets toward Israel.
“In response to Hezbollah’s firing of projectiles toward the State of Israel,” the Israeli military said in a statement, Israeli forces commenced striking Hezbollah targets across Lebanon.
Hezbollah, for its part, claimed responsibility for launching rockets and drones into Israel on Sunday night into Monday, asserting the operation was in retaliation for the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
