U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is scheduled to hold a press conference on Monday regarding the joint U.S.-Israeli operation targeting Iran, marking the first such address by a high-ranking official since the commencement of the strikes on Saturday.
The Pentagon has announced that Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kane will be participating in the press briefing.
Secretary Hegseth, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio, is also slated to appear before Congress on Tuesday to update lawmakers on the progress of the military operation against Iran, according to a statement released by the White House on Sunday.
The move to engage Congress comes after complaints from Democratic lawmakers expressing concerns over the lack of consultation prior to the initiation of the operation.
U.S. and Israeli forces initiated their joint operation against Iran on Saturday. Iranian state media reported on Sunday that a strike on Tehran resulted in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
