An oil tanker has been attacked by a drone off the coast of Muscat, Oman, according to authorities.

The incident occurred 52 nautical miles off the coast, while the tanker was transiting Omani territorial waters, officials said.

One crew member died in the attack, Omani authorities reported. The remaining 21 crew members have been evacuated.

Oman's navy is monitoring the tanker's condition and has issued warnings to other vessels transiting the area.

Competent teams have launched an investigation and are taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of navigation and the security of the ship and its crew, officials added.

Separately, United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that a vessel in Bahrain's Mina Salman port was attacked earlier in the day by two projectiles.
