Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Ya'rub al-Qudah, has reassured citizens that the Kingdom maintains a secure and stable strategic reserve of essential food commodities, sufficient to meet domestic market needs for a comfortable period.

Al-Qudah emphasized the ministry's commitment to the continuous monitoring of supply chains and the proactive implementation of measures to ensure the uninterrupted availability of goods in the local market and the necessary inputs for production.

He elaborated that the ministry is diligently monitoring the stock levels of essential commodities, including wheat, barley, rice, sugar, oils, and pulses, on a daily basis. This vigilance aims to guarantee their consistent availability in local markets without disruption.

The minister noted that the ministry has taken preemptive steps to bolster food reserves by diversifying import sources, strengthening partnerships with the private sector, and regulating the export of food commodities. The ministry has restricted the export of several essential food items, requiring official and justified approvals to maintain market stability and ensure the availability of goods to citizens at reasonable prices.

Al-Qudah stated that the ministry's oversight teams are intensifying their field rounds across various governorates of the Kingdom to monitor the availability of goods and ensure compliance with market regulations. These efforts aim to prevent practices that could affect price stability or the availability of supplies.

He affirmed that the local markets are experiencing a clear abundance of various food commodities and urged citizens not to rush into purchasing goods, given the availability of a secure and stable strategic reserve that meets the Kingdom's needs.

The minister also stated that the ministry has plans to deal with any emerging conditions in the region to ensure the proper function of supply chains.
