Aqaba, Jordan – The Baha Sports Festival concluded Friday evening in Aqaba, drawing to a close a vibrant series of competitions across four sports: Taekwondo, Karate, Boxing, and Esports. Approximately 200 athletes participated in the event.
The competitions, held at the Great Arab Revolt Square and Ayla Oasis, saw Minister of Youth and Vice President of the Jordanian Olympic Committee, Raed Al-Adwan, award the top athletes. The festival highlighted the growing interest in community sports across the Kingdom.
Rana Al-Saeed, Secretary-General of the Jordanian Olympic Committee, emphasized the significant engagement from sports enthusiasts during the festival's second edition. She also noted the high level of technical skill displayed during the competitions, which featured a large number of athletes from southern governorates. Al-Saeed stressed the committee's commitment to continuing such initiatives, which promote national sports and provide a platform for young talents to shine.
Aqaba was selected to host the festival due to its tourism appeal and developed infrastructure. The timing also coincided with the Jordan Baja Rally 2026, reflecting a strategy to leverage the presence of a global sporting event in Jordan by hosting parallel sports activities. This approach aims to involve a wider range of sports in a vital governorate like Aqaba.
The initiative helps spotlight Jordan's hosting of a world-class rally on a local level and promotes other sports alongside it within a comprehensive sporting landscape.
