Sirens Sound in Jordan Amid Regional Tensions, Safety Instructions Issued

Sirens sounded across Jordan early Sunday, prompting safety advisories to citizens amid heightened regional tensions and military threats.

Jordan's Public Security Directorate (PSD) had issued a clarification on Saturday regarding the meaning of the sirens: three intermittent blasts signal a threat, while a single blast indicates the threat has passed.

The PSD emphasized that upon hearing the three-blast warning, individuals should remain where they are and avoid unnecessary movement. If outside, people should seek shelter in the nearest building until the all-clear signal is given.

Citizens are urged to stay away from windows and exposed areas, seeking refuge near concrete stairwells if available.

Regarding the handling of foreign or explosive objects, the PSD strongly advised against approaching any unfamiliar or suspicious items. People should maintain a safe distance and refrain from handling such objects due to the potential presence of highly dangerous explosive materials.

The PSD also called on the public to avoid crowding and allow specialized teams to handle any incidents.

Under no circumstances should any unknown object be touched, moved, or opened. All such items should be treated as a genuine threat.

Any sightings of falling foreign objects, drones, or missiles, as well as any injuries or damage, should be immediately reported to the unified emergency number (911).

The PSD stressed the importance of educating family members, especially children, about the dangers of approaching or tampering with unfamiliar objects and the necessity of reporting them immediately.

The directorate urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors or sharing unverified images and videos on social media. Information should be obtained exclusively from official and trusted sources.

The Public Security Directorate affirmed that adhering to these guidelines contributes to protecting lives and property and enables the specialized agencies to perform their duties efficiently and quickly.
