Syria opposes any targeting of Arab nations and supports diplomatic solutions to de-escalate regional tensions, Syrian Information Minister Hamza al-Mustafa said Sunday.
Al-Mustafa, during a visit to Amman, emphasized the deep-rooted historical ties between Syria and Jordan, describing the current period as a crucial opportunity to rebuild media relations on a fresh foundation following years of instability.
He highlighted the Syrian government's focus on playing a constructive role in regional stability and fostering positive relationships with all countries based on mutual respect for sovereignty.
The minister also lauded Jordan's role in hosting Syrian refugees, affirming that the Syrian government is actively working to create conditions conducive to their safe and permanent return.
Al-Mustafa expressed his ministry's keen interest in collaborating with Jordan's Ministry of Government Communication and leveraging Jordan's experience in building a professional media landscape that strengthens the role of the independent and private sectors alongside the government's role in managing public discourse.
He affirmed that the Syrian leadership has directed efforts to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors and to address obstacles, particularly in the transportation sector. He added that the Syrian government is working to facilitate the return of refugees, which will contribute to accelerating recovery and reconstruction efforts.
The minister commended Jordan's stance on hosting Syrian refugees and treating them in a manner befitting the fraternal relations between the two peoples.
