France's financial sector remains largely unaffected by the ongoing turmoil in the Middle East, the governor of the French central bank, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, said on Tuesday.

Villeroy told reporters that the French economy boasts a relatively low inflation rate coupled with robust economic growth. He cautioned against the European Central Bank making interest rate decisions based solely on fluctuating energy prices.

"It would be a mistake to rush into predicting any potential movement in interest rates today. I would like to remind you that we do not make our decisions based on spot energy prices alone," Villeroy stated.

Earlier, French Economy Minister Roland Lescure addressed concerns about the nation's energy supply, stating that natural gas and gasoline supplies are not at risk in the near term.

"Let's not create a problem that doesn't exist. There is no need to rush to gas stations," Lescure told reporters on Tuesday, seeking to reassure the public.
